Back in 2015 my Mum told me about a series on Watch TV called “The Dog Hotel”. She said it was absolutely brilliant and that it was about a “hotel for dogs” – literally.

I did a double take – what did she mean, a hotel for dogs? Surely not! I decided to download all the episodes to my Sky box to watch, and I loved every second of them!

The dog hotel is called the “House Of Hugo”, it is located just outside Shoreham-On-Sea near Brighton and it is exactly what it says on the tin, it is a hotel for dogs! So when you go away on your holidays you can book your dogs in at the House Of Hugo and they get their own rooms complete with DVD players, comfy beds and pillows and the rooms even have names. You couldn’t make it up!

So intrigued I was by this series and so hooked I was on watching Leon the owner of the hotel, that it prompted me to get in touch with him on Twitter. The venue wasn’t just a hotel, it was also a doggie day care centre, hydrotherapy centre, extreme pampering and grooming, adog training centre and a place to meet and connect with other dog lovers.  My cousin lives in Worthing so I decided I wanted to go and visit the House Of Hugo and take a look for myself, and I was not disappointed!

The House Of Hugo was everything I expected it to be and more, and it is clear that owner Leon and his team including Mia are so passionate about what they do and love dogs with all their heart, and the comfort of the dogs staying with them is paramount to everything they do at the House Of Hugo. Leon was so welcoming and was in the hydrotherapy pool with a dog who was clearly loving every second of his doggie swim. I couldn’t resist going home with a few House Of Hugo goodies, and wishing that there was a House Of Hugo close to where I live because I would have no problem at all with booking my beloved girl Poppy there if I ever had to go away.

Since that first visit the House Of Hugo has gone from strength to strength, and with Leon still firmly at the helm it has branched out into other areas such as dog walking (the House Of Hugo currently has a special offer for only £3.00 for their dog walking service – more details are available on their Facebook page – www.facebook.com/houseofhugo.

Leon has also been involved in a series for TV to find the most obese dog in the UK, and help them to slim down to their ideal weight. A qualified canine nutritionist, Leon certainly knows his stuff and his love for dogs and their well-being is so evident in everything that he does.

I was over the moon to go and visit the House Of Hugo for a second time last year with my parents, who are also huge dog lovers and I knew that my Mum particularly, having introduced me to The Dog Hotel series, would love to visit it. We had an amazing time and again were made to feel so welcome by Leon, we even came away with a couple of gorgeous gifts that my dog Poppy absolutely loves!

So if you live in West Sussex and looking for somewhere for you precious pooch to stay while you are on holiday, or if you are in need of a doggie day care centre or somewhere for your pooch to have a swim or some extreme pampering, look no further than the House Of Hugo. My only wish is that this was closer to where I live because I would have no hesitation at all in letting my Poppy stay there, I think she would have a whale of a time!
